Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Line
AMHC Sexual Assault Services offers a 24-hour, confidential, toll-free sexual assault crisis and support line for people affected by sexual violence, no matter when it happened. Trained advocates staff the support line and their job is to listen, offer support, and provide helpful, practical information and referrals to other community resources.

Medical and Legal System Advocacy
AMHC Sexual Assault Services' advocates are available to go with survivors and significant others to medical and forensic examinations (also known as the rape kit), when reporting to law enforcement, and any legal processes. The advocate's job is to support the survivor, and offer information or explanations about any of the systems a survivor encounters.

Support Groups
AMHC Sexual Assault Services offers support groups for survivors and concerned others. Support groups help survivors through the healing process, promote awareness, and provide a place for education and peer support to survivors of sexual violence as well as to non-offending parents, partners and other support people in a survivor's life. Through the sharing of individual experiences, discussion of information about sexual violence, and the exchange of resources and referrals, support groups are meant to reduce isolation and support survivors in their best path forward. Groups run between 10 to 16 weeks, and are free. Contact us if you're interested in more information about a support group.

Connections to Resources and Information

AMHC advocates help people find community resources and information. This may include talking about options for therapy and counseling, information for emergency housing and referrals to other helpful agencies in the community.
The role of a sexual assault advocate is like being a seeing eye dog. It’s not our job to determine where the survivor is going or where the survivor wants to go. It’s our job to help them know if there are obstacles in the way that we can work around to help them get there safely, and we do that at their direction.
